5 Kitchen Island Features

5 Kitchen Island Features

Which of these five island features would you love, and which ones would drive you crazy?

1. Kitchen Sink

A sink on the island makes a lot of sense if you’re all about efficiency. But some homeowners regret it because the island becomes a splash zone. If you have kids or a partner who somehow gets water everywhere when doing dishes, your island is going to be constantly wet.

2. Microwave

Some people love having their microwave tucked into the backside of the island where it is out of sight, but still easy to reach. Others prefer them hidden in the pantry or mounted up high. Drawer-style microwaves give you a sleek, built-in look while still being functional.

3. Pop-Up Outlets

Pop-up outlets  stay hidden when you don’t need them, and when you do, a simple push brings them up, ready to charge your phone, laptop, or your kid’s iPad. But let’s be honest, kids and their sticky fingers will find a way to push them up and down constantly. If the thought of that makes you cringe, an in-drawer outlet might be a better option to keep the clutter off the counter.

4. Hidden Table Storage

Storage in a kitchen island is a no-brainer, but what about a folding table cabinet inside the island? Instead of dragging a plastic table from the garage during your next family gathering, you can  just slide one out from a built-in spot. It’s a space-saver and a solution for extra seating.

5. Sky Plug

If you love switching up your home decor for every season, the Sky Plug might be your new favorite feature. It’s a quick-swap system for pendant lights, so you can easily swap out fixtures without needing an electrician.

Which One’s a NO-GO for You?

Everyone’s kitchen needs are different, and what works for one person might drive someone else crazy. So, which of these features would you put in your dream kitchen and which one’s an absolute no for you?
