These are the appliance upgrades I’d gladly pay for again… And two I’d skip without thinking twice.

Induction Cooktop

If you haven't cooked on induction before, don't write it off.

It heats incredibly fast, gives you precise temperature control, and because the cooktop itself doesn't get nearly as hot as traditional electric, it's easier to clean after dinner.

It's also more energy efficient and a lot safer if you've got kids running around the kitchen.

Drawer Microwave

I'd put the microwave in a drawer under the island every chance I get.

It gets the microwave off the countertop, keeps it out of sight, and frees up valuable upper cabinet space. It's also much easier for kids and shorter adults to use than an over-the-range microwave.

Panel-Ready Dishwasher

This is one of my favorite ways to make a kitchen feel more custom.

A panel-ready dishwasher blends in with your cabinetry so it disappears instead of standing out as another stainless steel appliance.

It's a small design detail, but it makes the entire kitchen look cleaner and more high-end.

A Second Dishwasher

This sounds excessive until you host family for the holidays.

A second dishwasher gives you double the capacity, keeps dirty dishes moving, and makes entertaining so much easier. I also like installing one on each side of the sink so the kitchen functions better during cleanup.

If you have the space, I'd absolutely consider it.

French Door Double Oven

If you cook often or entertain, I'd spend the money here.

A double oven lets you cook multiple dishes at different temperatures without juggling timing. Choosing a model with convection makes it even more versatile by cooking more evenly and often a little faster.

Not to mention, the french door feature looks awesome!

Two I'd Skip

Personally, I'd skip the smart refrigerator with the giant touchscreen. Most people use the screen for a few weeks, then it becomes an expensive tablet hanging on the front of the fridge.

I'd also skip built-in ice makers. They're one of the more common failure points, and take up valuable kitchen space. They’re kinda loud too… Most people dont’ realize they regularly drain and refill to keep the ice fresh which ends up getting annoying if you're watching a movie, reading, or working nearby.
