What you should know

You have a rare opportunity to install what is called blocking in your new house. This is completed during the framing stage and it’s a block of wood that gives you the ability to install wall mounted accessories to a solid nailing surface so you don’t have to rely on drywall anchors. During the framing stage, grab a scrap piece of 2x4, 2x6, or even a 2x8 and nail it between the studs! This will provide a solid piece of wood so that the towel rod can be installed securely. You can ask your builder to install these or sweet talk em’ into letting you do it. No more drywall anchors and wobbly towel rods.

Recap

  • Add framing support or blocking during the framing stage

  • Scrap peices of 2x4, 2x6, or even a 2x8 can be used

  • Use them for towel rods and toilet paper holder
