The Ultimate Home Building Checklist (Update 11)

We’ve recently added a bunch of new images and videos to many checklist items. We can’t list them all here so keep an eye out for (V) to indicate video content and (I) for images.

These provide a quick visual reference for each item. We’ll continue adding more with future updates, and all new video and images will be published in real time within the app (coming soon).


Line items added added:

  • Appliances: Elevated Dishwasher
  • Bathroom → Shower: Open shower (no door)
  • Doors and Windows → Windows: Flush vanity window
  • Doors and Windows → Windows: Smart window film
  • Doors: Door stop Style. Added Options: Baseboard Mounted/ Hinge Pin Door Stop/ Floor Mounted/ Spring Door Stop/ Magnetic Door Stop
  • Doors → Door Considerations: Consider installing a solid core door for the primary bedroom to enhance sound insulation and privacy.
  • Doors → Door Considerations: Consider installing magnetic ball catches on all closet doors and double doors to ensure quiet and smoother operation.
  • Electrical → Outlets → Other: Dog door outlet
  • Framing → Misc Framing: Recessed dryer vent mounted up 6”. Description: This allows room for seamless floor trim.
  • Framing→ Misc Framing: After completing framing, electrical, and plumbing, film each wall in every room before drywall installation. This will help you locate pipes, electrical lines, and blocking when hanging items later.
  • Framing → Misc Framing: 2x6 wall for recessed dryer vent
  • Framing: Blocking: (Added Options)

    • Baby gate blocking. Stairs and kitchen
    • Toilet grab bars,

    • Added to description in blocking: Write height and location of blocking on studs, then film or photograph for future reference when mounting items later.
  • Flooring → Flooring Considerations: Make sure the contractors have cleaned the subfloor before carpet install to prevent lumps and ensure proper glue bonding.
  • HVAC → Considerations: Avoid Placing the A/C Unit Directly Under a Bathroom Vent.
  • Insulation/ Drywall: Drywall Level Added Options: Level 0, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, Level 5
  • Insulation/Drywall → Considerations: Insulation ruler check
  • Kitchen → Sink→ Sink Considerations: For XL sinks, consider adding two faucets for improved functionality.
  • Landscaping → Landscaping Considerations: Consider adding artificial turf under swing sets. This prevents grass damage and muddy spots.
  • Landscaping → Landscaping Considerations: No Plants or Trees Near Sewer Line
  • Paint → Paint Considerations: Paint all sides of the door
  • Paint → Paint Considerations: Ask your builder for leftover paing or purchase paint samples for touch ups.
  • Pantry → Door Style: Swinging (Added as an option)
  • Pantry: Appliance Garage
  • Plumbing → Gas Line: Tankless Water Heater
  • Plumbing → Misc Plumbing: Install exterior water lines for future additions like extra spigots, a pool, garden, or animal pens.
  • Plumbing → Misc Plumbing: Water Bottle Filler Drain
  • Poured Concrete (Driveway/ Walkway): Heated Porch
  • Poured Concrete (Driveway/ Walkway): Heated Sidewalk
  • Poured Concrete (Driveway/ Walkway): Added a note to driveway type: If choosing gravel, ask for extra rock to the driveway for a solid base.
  • Siding → Considerations: Darker vinyl colors fade faster in sun exposure. Consider choosing a lighter color if long-term appearance is a priority.
