Most builders install the bare minimum when it comes to outlets.

Bathrooms are one of the biggest misses. Here are three outlets you’ll wish you asked for.

Behind Every Toilet

If there’s any chance you’ll want a bidet or smart toilet, you need an outlet behind the toilet.

These aren’t just luxury add-ons anymore. Heated seats, warm water, and built-in features make a big difference in daily use. But none of it works without power.

Adding the outlet during construction is simple and cheap. Trying to add it after tile is installed usually means opening walls, cutting tile, and spending significantly more.

This is one of the easiest upgrades to plan ahead and one of the most frustrating to miss.

Behind the Vanity Mirror

Backlit mirrors are becoming standard in modern bathrooms.

But they need power.

If you don’t plan for an outlet behind the mirror, you’re either stuck without the feature or dealing with visible wires that ruin the look.

All you need to do is tell your electrician the height and location of the mirror during rough-in. They’ll place the outlet so it’s completely hidden once installed.

Inside the Vanity Drawer

This is one of the most underrated upgrades in the entire bathroom.

A powered drawer lets you plug in things like hair dryers, straighteners, and electric razors then close the drawer and keep everything out of sight.

Docking Drawer-style outlets even cut power when the drawer is closed, which adds a layer of safety most people don’t think about.

It keeps countertops clean, reduces clutter, and makes daily routines easier.

Plan It Before Electrical Gets Locked In

None of these are complicated.

But they all have to be decided before electrical rough-in. After that, changes get expensive fast.

The Ultimate Home Building Checklist helps you catch details like this at the right time, so you don’t miss simple upgrades that make your home more functional every day.
