Why You Want Level 5 Drywall When Building

If you’re building or renovating your home, drywall is an important choice that needs to be made. If you want your walls to look absolutely flawless—especially in spaces where natural light pours in—then you’re going to want to become familiar with Level 5 drywall and the impact it has on your wall finish.

Why Level 5 Drywall?

Natural light can be a real pain when it comes to walls. The sunlight streaming through your windows or doors tends to bounce around, casting shadows and highlighting every little imperfection.

With Level 5 drywall, your walls are coated and sanded to perfection, giving you a super smooth surface that hides all those little problem areas. You don’t even need to go with Level 5 everywhere—just in the spots where light is going to hit the hardest. Think hallways, living rooms, or any area with big windows. By focusing on these high-visibility spots, you can save money while still getting the most bang for your buck.

What Makes It So Special?

Level 5 drywall is the smoothest finish you can get. It adds an extra layer of coating that really hides any imperfections in the sheetrock. If you’ve ever seen walls with little bumps or dents that you didn’t notice until the light hit them just right, you know how frustrating that can be.

Because of its flawless finish, it’s ideal for rooms with bright or harsh lighting—where flaws would otherwise stand out. If you’re building a home office or a bedroom with tons of natural light, Level 5 is your best bet.

Is It Worth It?

Level 5 drywall isn’t for everyone. It’s more expensive than your standard drywall finish, and if you’re trying to keep costs down, you might not want to do the entire house. But for those high-visibility areas? Absolutely worth it. Imagine walking into a bright, sunlit room and seeing perfectly smooth walls with no shadows or imperfections.

Some homeowners go all out and use Level 5 throughout their entire home. And while it definitely looks sweet, you can get the same wow factor by focusing on a few key areas. It’s all about knowing where you need it most.
