5 Home Features Worth Considering For Your New Home Build

These are the home upgrades that don’t always make it into the builder's standard package but are 100% worth considering while the walls are still open and the design is flexible.

Here are five home features that are smart, simple, and just make everyday life a little better.

Drywall Speakers That Disappear Into the Wall

These speakers sit inside your wall or ceiling and get covered with a thin layer of mud and paint so they’re completely hidden! No visible speakers, no cords, just clean walls and great sound.

They’re perfect for living rooms, kitchens, or even a theater room. And they’re much easier to install while the walls are still open during construction.

A Faucet That Moves When You Don’t

This one’s a showstopper. A motion-activated faucet turns on with just a wave of your hand. You can also get voice control. Tell your faucet to “fill the dog bowl” or “pour one cup for coffee,” and it’ll measure and deliver exactly what you asked for.

Drip System for Your Landscaping

Most new builds come with basic sprinkler systems that spray water all over the place. But if you want to take care of your plants, ask about a drip system for your flower beds.

Drip irrigation sends water right to the base of each plant, slowly and evenly. It saves water, keeps your landscaping healthier, and cuts down on overspray that stains walls or walks.

Recirculation Pump for Faster Hot Water

If you’re going with a tankless water heater, see if it includes a recirculation pump. This system warms the water in your pipes so it’s ready when you are like right before bed or first thing in the morning.

It’s especially useful in larger homes where the water heater might be far from the bathroom or kitchen.

Recirculation Pumps aren’t just for tankless systems, they can be added to traditional tank water heaters as well.

Window Film for Privacy and Heat Control

Window film keeps your home cooler by blocking heat from the sun, and it adds daytime privacy so people can’t see into your home during the day.

It’s perfect for front door sidelights, bathroom windows, or any room that gets a lot of sun. It doesn’t block your view, but it does give you that extra sense of comfort and privacy without adding curtains or blinds everywhere.

One More Thing to Add to the List

These features might not be the first things you think about, but they’re the ones you’ll be glad you included when your home is finished. Planning for them early makes the process smoother and the results better.
