There are so many awesome shower features to choose from during a new build. The hardest part is budget but at least if you choose early you’ll avoid change order fees and delays. Here are six upgrades that are worth adding to your wishlist before the framing is done.

Built-In Speakers

Built-in shower speakers take your playlist to the next level. Whether it’s your favorite podcast or a motivating playlist to get the day started, this feature adds a fun and functional touch. Best of all, they’re moisture-safe and completely hidden inside the ceiling or wall.

Floor-to-Ceiling Glass

If you want your bathroom to feel bigger, brighter, and more open, floor-to-ceiling glass panels are the way to go. It creates a clean, modern look and lets the natural light pour in if you’ve got a window.

Massive Tiles

Want a fancy look and less scrubbing? Oversized tiles are the answer. Big tiles mean fewer grout lines, and that means less cleaning and less chance for mildew to form. They also give the shower a sleek, seamless appearance that feels high-end without being too flashy.

Not a Curb in Sight

Curbless showers are one of those features that make a big impact without looking overdone. They’re easy to get in and out of, safer for aging in place, and give the bathroom a clean, continuous floor line. Just make sure to plan for a recessed floor during framing as this isn’t something you can add last minute.

Huge Frosted Glass Window

This one might not be on your radar, but it should be. A large frosted window inside the shower brings in natural light without sacrificing privacy. It makes your space feel bigger and more luxurious, and it’s perfect for those early mornings when you’d rather not flip on a bright overhead light.

Exhaust and Light Combo

This is one of the most useful features on the list. A fan and light combo keeps the room ventilated and prevents moisture buildup that can lead to mold. Plus, it gives you better lighting exactly where you need it.
